Gold was deposited onto the GaSe (0001) surface by vacuum thermal evaporation without substrate cooling or the use of inert gases. GaSe (0001) single-crystal plates were used as substrates. Clean van der Waals surfaces were prepared by in situ cleavage in a preparation chamber at a vacuum of about 10⁻⁸ Pa.\nGold nanostructures on the GaSe (0001) surface were obtained by vacuum thermal deposition of Au. The evaporator consisted of a tungsten spiral containing the metal and positioned inside a cylindrical enclosure with a 3 mm aperture. The distance from the evaporator to the sample was approximately 7 cm. During deposition, a current of 5.0 A was passed through the tungsten spiral, corresponding to temperatures approximately 100 °C above the melting point of the metal. The deposition time was a few seconds.
