Description
|
The study of historic urban landscapes in the center of Sumy is essential for understanding long-term spatial transformations and supporting post-war recovery strategies that consider historical context. When digitized and systematically organized, historical architectural and spatial data provide valuable insights into the evolution of urban form and serve as a robust foundation for heritage conservation, digital documentation, and evidence-based urban planning. This dataset comprises high-resolution orthogonal projections (saved in JPEG format) derived from raw digital 3D models of urban buildings in a central part of Sumy, bounded by Soborna, Voskresenska, Pokrovska, and former Mykolaivska streets, as they appeared in the early 20th century. The underlying 3D models were constructed by integrating historical archival maps, photographic records, and architectural documentation. Following accurate 3D spatial alignment, the generated visual assets were organized into a structured repository. The dataset thus represents a coherent and FAIR-compliant collection of historical architectural visual documentation, enabling further qualitative analysis of morphological transformations, volumetric urban density, and the architectural heritage of Sumy city center. Notes
| The research dataset comprises high-resolution orthogonal projections (saved in JPEG format) derived from raw digital 3D models of historic urban buildings in the center of Sumy as they appeared in the early 20th century. The dataset was developed within the framework of the R&D project at Sumy State University, “Scientific Foundations of the Virtual Reconstruction of Destroyed Cultural Heritage Objects for the Recovery Strategy in Ukraine” (State Registration No. 0125U000440), funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, with the support of the Department of Culture, Tourism, and Religions of the Sumy Regional State Administration. |
